Emory & Henry enrolls 1,000 undergraduate students and 226 students in the College's graduate programs. 80% percent of our undergraduate students live on campus. Campus housing is available for graduate students at the Emory campus, or off-campus.

The student-to-faculty ratio is 11:1 and 74% of our classes have fewer than 20 students.

2017-2018 Tuition & Fees

Tuition per semester is $17,250 and $34,500** annually for new, incoming first-year and transfer students. The average room cost for the academic year is $6,200 and average board cost is $5,620*, which includes 19 meals per week plus $280 in FlexDollars and $280 in OneCard cash.

Academic Programs

Emory & Henry's liberal arts curriculum spans more than 27 areas of study, including our interdisciplinary programs, which allow students to combine classes from more than one subject area to create a more specialized major. The college's exceptional faculty is committed to teaching as a transformative practice—an opportunity to inspire students to re-imagine the nature and purpose of their education in order to contribute positive results to our world. The ampersand in the college's name reflects the integrative learning experience at Emory & Henry where students connect what they’re passionate about to what they’re learning via project-based, hands-on work and critical reflection.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Emory & Henry College offers a variety of merit; performance and interest program scholarships; and need-based grants. Approximately 99% of all students received financial aid. The average amount of grants and scholarships awarded to individual students for the 2016-17 academic year was $27,927.

Faculty

Emory & Henry College professors are among the best in the nation, having been honored by national or state teaching awards nineteen times in the last 29 years. When adjusted for the size of the institution, this record is unmatched by any other Virginia college and is a distinction shared by only a handful of institutions in the nation.

The college has 95 full-time and 76 full-time undergraduate faculty members. 84% of the faculty members hold terminal degrees. Every student is provided with a faculty advisor who assists in the best selection of courses and offers professional guidance throughout their academic career and beyond.

While faculty members are encouraged to continue study and research, their primary function is teaching. Many professors mentor unique interest groups on campus and live near the campus—making their homes open to students for special events, informal class meetings, or other activities.

Students

The average combined (math and verbal) SAT scores of the E&H 2016-2017 cohort students is 1076. The middle 50 percent SAT Math score of cohort students is 430-550 and the middle 50 percent SAT verbal score is 430-565. The College's current acceptance rate is 72%. 41% percent of enrolled students graduated in the top 25 percent of their senior class.

Athletics

Emory & Henry College competes with other U.S. and Virginia colleges, participating in NCAA Division III athletics. It is a member of the respected Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Emory & Henry offers 20 men's and women's intercollegiate sports and 20 intramural sports. Men's sports include baseball; basketball; cheer and dance; cross country; equestrian; football; golf; soccer; swimming; tennis; and track and field.
