Outdoor Program

Emory & Henry is nestled in an outdoor adventure paradise. Lush forests to hike, mountains to ascend, creeks to paddle, cliffs to climb, and deep caves to explore are just minutes from the Emory & Henry campus. The Appalachian and Iron Mountain trails, The Virginia Creeper Trail, The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, The Jefferson and George Washington national forests, and the New, Holston, and Clinch rivers are all close by.

About

The Outdoor Adventure Program is available to the entire E&H community. The goal of the Adventure Program is to responsibly introduce the E&H students, faculty, and staff to the wonders of silent sports: hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, caving, paddling, cross-country skiing and biking.

Adventure Spectrum

The Emory & Henry Outdoor Program offers an adventure spectrum that is truly far and wide -- from backpacking and hiking to rock climbing, paddling, winter sports and caving,

Spring Break Expedition

The team chooses a destination, plans and then leads the annual Spring Break Expedition. The two umbrella objectives for the Expedition are for the members of the expedition team to share the expedition planning process and to cultivate the group dynamic through effective team building. Both objectives require a goal-oriented process and a lot of hard work, but in the end can produce an experience that is the most rewarding kind of adventure fun.
